LV Mini Purses and Cupcakes

I am very thankful as I receive orders. It's funny how life is. Last year, I was in limbo in terms of personal goals. In the back of my mind the thought was there with regards to cake decorating.

One year later - after finishing all 4 levels of Wilton Cake Decorating and sharing countless samples, potential customers are approaching me about my new found interest. It shows that if you work on achieving a goal, you can attain it. Just wanted to share that with you, as I am also thankful that you have decided to stop by to view or follow my blog.

And on to my latest order:

I received an order from a co-worker. His Son Drew is turning One and he and his wife were interested in a dozen eggless banana cupcakes. Six would have the initial S after his mother's name, and the other six would have the initial D which represented Drew. Here they are.

I topped them off chocolate buttercream icing, gumpaste initials and if you look closely I added chocolate wafers as well. Too cute!

His wife's Birthday is fast approaching as well and she has a strong fashion sense. He decided to surprise her with a set of mini LV Purse cakes.

The flavour is red velvet and I worked this look with fondant and gumpaste. I piped the LV logo using royal icing. These were fun to make and photograph.

No Cake Get Together

It's a long weekend and I invited my girlfriends over for a barbecue. They asked, where are your cupcakes Dee? Did you make a cake.? They looked at me with bewildered disappointment for I had bought them a store cake.

I was working feverishly on this Eggless Coach Cake order.

I will have to make it up to them.

The recipe:

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoons cinnamon
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup crushed pecans
1 1/3 cup water
1 teaspoon white vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 teaspoons butter extract
1/3 cup vegetable oil

1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan.
2.Sift together the flour, baking powder and baking soda into a large bowl. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, cinamon. Make a well in the center and pour in the sweetened condensed milk, water, vanilla, and vegetable oil. Mix well and pour into prepared pan.
3.Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool.
